Several local City councilors feel that they are ‘losing control’ of the town plan to developers.  Councilor Eddy Saroff is advocating taking a similar tack to Noosa, where the town plan is enforced more strictly – more “black and white”.

Obviously, such a move would have a significant impact on future developments.  There have been numerous cases of relaxation of the town plan when giving developmental approval.  Perhaps one of the most notable recent approval being Broadbeach’s ‘Oracle’ development, which consists of a 50 and 40 storey tower in an area zoned for only 30 under the present town plan.
