Council Prepare Land for Varsity Lakes Sportshouse

Having finalised the purchase of a 1.15ha block of land between Christine Ave & Lake Orr, Council are preparing to build the Varsity Lakes Sportshouse.  The community facility will be made up of a two-storey building as well as a boatshed, viewing deck and other amenities.

Site preparation is slated for September with the building and much of the landscaping completed by March 2011.

Last Land Released at Varsity Lakes

After over ten years of (still ongoing) development and the creation of over 1000 lots, Delfin are selling the final land release in their master planned Varsity Lakes community.

The last ten lots, at South Bay – the development’s latest precinct will start from $224,000 and range in price from 217 to almost 500sqm.

New State Government Masterplan for Varsity Lakes Station

With completion of the $324m Robina to Varsity Lakes rail link and $25m Varsity Lakes train station due later this year, Premier Anna Bligh has announced that the new station will form the hub of a major future development, staged over the next 10 to 15 years.

The plans include up to 50,000sqm of commerical space, as well as signficant residentail development.  Part of the Government’s ‘Building for Jobs’ plan, the precinct is expected to support up to 2500 office and 350 retail jobs – as well as the boost to construction jobs during the building process itself.

Ms. Bligh hopes to have the first stages of development underway by 2011.

Robina-Varsity Rail Link 75% Completed

The first stage, of the extension of the Brisbane Airport to Coolangatta rail link is due to open by the end of the year.

Currently running from Brisbane Airport to Robina, the new link will extend to Varsity Lakes, adding another 4.1km of track to the Gold Coast line.

Part of the QLD Government’s$107bn infrastructure plan, the longer Gold Coast line is designed  complement the planned light rail link slated to run between Southport & Broadbeach.

New $100m Addition to Varsity Lakes

Delfin Lend Lease, who have developed the lion’s share of Varsity Lakes have recently commenced earthworks on the first stage of ‘South Bay’, a new $100m precinct on Christine Avenue.

The 1 hectare site on the southern bank of Lake Orr will include around 150 houses and apartments but will consist mainly of waterfront dining, cafes, retail and commercial space.  Completion of stage one is expected in 2010.

Varsity Lakes Rail Village On Track For 2010

As part of the extension of the Brisbane-Gold Coast rail link from Robina south to Coolangatta, work has commenced on the Varsity Lakes station and surrounding 14ha mixed use project.

The development, which is planned to include townhouses, apartments, commercial and retail components is progressing, with a draft master plan due for release later tis year, with completion expected to take place in 2010, as planned.
